Jennings Partners with the Brown School of Social Work, UMSL and with the new SLU Urban Education Collaborative
The George Warren Brown School of Social Work, often referred to as the Brown School, is one of the world's leading schools for the training of social science researchers. The social work programs is ranked 1st by US News and is one of the academic units of Washington University in St. Louis and they have partnered with Jennings to support student programs, social justice initiative, support the SPOT clinic and to train future teachers. The district has a practicum social worker from Washington University that focuses on addressing needs for families in high poverty settings. In 2015, Saint Louis University launched an exclusive partnership with Jennings to pilot an urban education collaborative with Jennings to train future teachers in urban education and in using best practices to support high poverty learners. UMSL has also collaborated to support studio schools as part of the teacher preparation program that focuses on urban experiences. All of the universities are supporting experiences at the collegiate level for students in high poverty settings.
